Time, if it had a continuity,
would be similar to a line
on which the present is
always only a single point.
It is from this point that we
look horizontally at the
past and the future.  By
comparison, to watch the
sky is like excluding the
linearity of time and to
always keep our attention
in a single point.  Can you
imagine your lives without
past and future? Can you
imagine your lives without
illusions? To put it in more
precise terms, can you
imagine your lives without
a horizon? Have you got
the courage for that? For a
short time you can avert
your eyes from the horizon
of your illusions, and while
you do so, you are
experiencing an infinite
number of moments, each
of which are situated next
to each other.
